Last month, the Qatari royal family offered the United States a brand new $400 million airplane to be used as a new Air Force One jet.
How do you take an airplane from the Middle East and convert it into a jet that’s adequate for the President of the United States? Also, the U.S. government said that even if they were to accept the plane, it would take more than a billion dollars and several years to convert it into an Air Force One jet.
Now, that piqued my interest—and it sent my researcher and I down a rabbit hole to delve into the capabilities of Air Force One. And while many of them are (understandably) classified, many others are not—such as the fact that one model of Air Force One has a shield in place that can withstand nuclear electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attacks.
